Boiler apparatus
A wastewater purification and recycling apparatus is provided comprising means for introducing wastewater having a relatively high concentration of impurities from an industrial process into a boiler used to generate working steam for an industrial purpose, heating the wastewater in the boiler to produce a steam component and a precipitated impurity component, using the steam component for the industrial purpose, condensing the steam component as it is used for the industrial purpose to produce water and selectively recycling the water for use in the industrial process and/or boiler while periodically removing the accumulated impurity component from the boiler.
Patent number: 4437968 Regeneration of cation ion-exchange polishers
High-pressure boiler feedwater is polished and softened with a cation ion-exchange resin, and the resin is regenerated with a readily ionizable salt of an amine-type corrosion inhibitor.
Patent number: 4298477 Apparatus for and method of removing volatile boiler-feed additives from pressurized steam
An apparatus for and a method of removal of particulate material and boiler-feed additives from pressurized, saturated steam, which apparatus includes a composite cartridge in which particulate matter is removed by a filter tube and boiler-feed additives are removed by contacting the filtered steam with a bed of a hydrogen-form, strong-acid, ion-exchange resin, and saturated, pressurized steam substantially free of particulate matter and volatile, alkaline, boiler-feed additives are recovered for use, for example, in food-preparation and sterilization purposes.
United States Patent 4342730 Recovery of EDTA from steam generator cleaning solutions
A process for recovering the chelating or complexing agents, particularly ethylenediaminetetraacetic (EDTA), used in chemical cleaning and decontamination operations performed to clean steam generators, especially nuclear powered steam generators, is provided. The EDTA, metal and radionuclide-containing aqueous waste stream is, optionally, first treated to remove the metals and radionuclides. The pH of the resulting liquor is then adjusted to less than 2.0, causing the precipitation of acid EDTA. The solid acid EDTA is recovered for reuse or disposal, as desired. The remaining liquid is treated as required to permit environmental disposal. Removal of the metals and radionuclides can be by sulfide precipitation or ion exchange and may be conducted before or after precipitation of the acid EDTA.
Patent number: 5225087 Water conductivity monitoring circuit for use with a steam generator
A water conductivity monitoring circuit determines the status of an ion exchange filter in the water flow to a steam generator. A microprocessor sends a reference signal to a conductivity sensor circuit that converts it to an excite signal that is sent to a probe in the water flow. Any conductivity of the water alters the excite signal, and the modified signal is compared to the reference signal to establish a value indicative of the conductivity of the water. The microprocessor compares the value to at least two thresholds representative of the status of the filter.
