Ultrafiltration Plants
Lenntech designs, builds and commissions tailor-made and turnkey ultrafiltration (UF) plants.
Our UF plants use hollow-fiber membranes in outside-in or inside-out configurations to treat water from different sources. These membranes remove suspended solids, colloids and microorganisms.
Ultrafiltration provides a membrane-based barrier for the removal of fine suspended solids, colloids and microorganisms, making it useful as a treatment step and as pretreatment for reverse osmosis. Whereas sand and multimedia filters capture particles within a bed of granular media, UF separates them using membranes with defined pore sizes. This distinction is useful when treatment needs to address colloids and microorganisms as well as suspended solids. Lenntech UF systems can include backwashing, chemically enhanced backwashing and membrane integrity testing to support operation and monitoring.
