Microfiltration system

Solid-liquid separation for the pharmaceutical and food industries

The MFS is a compact, fully automatic filtration plant for solid-liquid separation.
The heart of the plant is a tubular stainless steel membrane. A layer of stabilization material is applied to the membrane surface for separation purposes. The choice of stabilization material depends on the liquid and/or solid being filtered. The layer of stabilization material enables a filtration process down to a level of 0.1 micron. Impurities are separated from the liquid within the stabilization material. As soon as the filtered liquid flow rate drops below a set level, the filtration process stops, and the layer of stabilization material is dried and automatically removed from the tubular stainless steel membrane. Subsequently, a new layer of stabilization material is applied, and filtration can begin again. The stabilization material can consist of (combinations of) the following substances, among others: cellulose, diatomaceous earth, zeolite, perlite, and activated carbon.

The MFS is used for removing suspended solids from difficult-to-process fluids. Examples are found in the pharmaceutical, chemical, and semiconductor industries:

  • Separation of catalysts
  • Separation of enzymes and yeasts
  • Cleaning of extraction fluids
  • Removal of glass abrasives, metal particles from fluids/oil

And also in the field of process water and wastewater treatment:

  • Tank/Container cleaning of liquids
  • Cleaning of cleaning oil from printing plants and machine building
  • Removal of toxic components from galvanic wastewater
  • Removal of solid particles from textile wastewater
  • Pre-separation for ultrafiltration, nanofiltration, and reverse osmosis

The MFS offers the following advantages:

  • Deadend microfiltration with short regeneration periods
  • No use of additional cleaning chemicals
  • High liquid yield and a dry concentrate
  • Low operating costs due to thin separation layer
  • Operating pressure P
  • Fully automatic
  • Completely constructed from stainless steel
  • Sterile process operation possible
