Abstract
A computational model has been developed for the simulation and optimization of the pervaporation process. This model involves solving coupled mass and energy balances, and chemical potential equations using a genetic algorithm. A visual, windows-based, user-friendly design software has been developed using VB programming language. Using this software, two dehydration cases have been studied. The results presented here indicate the value of this software as a design tool.
Conclusion
A model, algorithm and software for the prediction, simulation and optimization of the pervaporation process were developed. This design tool can be used to predict the limiting water removal to simulate the component concentration and the temperature profiles at a given operation condition as well as to further optimize the process. This design tool provides a useful resource for designing new pervaporation process. Fig. 4(a). Water content and heating capacity profiles at constant temperature.
