Low-temperature distillation processes in single- and dual-purpose plants

During the last decade, intensive research and development have been invested to improve further the advantages of the low-temperature process by increasing the unit’s capacities and decreasing the energy consumption. This paper presents the advantages of the low-temperature distillation process, describes practical commercial application for steam driven multi-effect distillation plants in dual-purpose (electricity and water production) applications and the latest developments for single-purpose mechanical vapor compression plants.
