Experimental runs on a pilot plant were performed to check the feasibility of the optimization method for batch membrane processes previously developed by the authors [1]. The results obtained from the pilot plant confirms that the adopted approach, that is to set a constant permeate flux rate equal to the value of the critical flux evaluated at the end of operation conditions by a simulation model, maximizes the productivity of the plant preventing the formation of irreversible fouling.
