Hepatocellular functions of human liver cells in oxygen-permeable membrane device

These results demonstrate that the oxygen permeable membrane bioreactor utilized in our study allows obtaining a small-scale organization of human hepatocytes in a micro architecture similar to that in vivo. This study attested the feasibility of the small-scale flat membrane bioreactor as a simple device model system for in vitro studies of drugs and therapeutic molecules on hepatocyte metabolism in a controlled system.
