Conclusion

Separation of heavy metals by NF membrane has been enhanced by adding surfactants on the feed solution. The enhancement of heavy metal by surfactant addition depends on the pH of the chrome solution. Acidic pH found more separation enhancement of hexavalent chromium. Chrome plating industrial effluents is normally acidic in nature that supports further the use of surfactants during filtration. Using selective surfactants, the formation of fouling can be avoided that will increase the life of membrane and cost of operation with enhanced separation of heavy metals.
