Conclusion

It was shown that phase inversion is an interesting process to create complex porous structures in ceramics. This process was used to develop hollow fibre geometries. By their large specific surface area such fibres and capillaries possess a high potential in membrane applications. It could be shown that alumina-based porous hollow fibres are suitable carriers for thin Pd-layers. In separation experiments such membranes show a good permeability for hydrogen, a sufficient selectivity and a longterm stability.
