Conclusion

• Imide-containing poly(amic acid)s with oxazinone amic acid groups can be used for two membrane groups preparation; they are PI-PAA and PBOI. • Gas permeability of N2, O2, CO2 and H2 through both PI-PAA and PBOI homogeneous membranes increases in the following order: polymer-metal complex < homopolymer < copolymer. All membranes exhibit high selectivity in gas separation. • Composite PI-PAA/PPO membranes exhibit dehydration properties in the pervaporation of aqueous/organic mixtures, except for the ethyl acetate/aqueous mixture where membranes exhibit organophilic properties, high permeability, and selectivity with respect to ethyl acetate. • Asymmetric PI-PAA membranes prepared by phase inversion technique exhibit regular ultraporous structure that preserves after transformation in PBOI.
