Conclusion

The concentration of solutions containing KCl and H2SO4 in the MD membrane reactor results in the formation and precipitation of KHSO4 in the feed tank (REACTOR) whereas HCl is transferred through the membrane and pure diluted hydrochloric acid is obtained on the permeate side. The continuous removal of hydrogen chloride from the reaction solution moves the chemical equilibrium of the process and leads to increase of productivity of KHSO4. The crystallization of KHSO4 from water– methanol solutions results in K2SO4 formation, which can be used for mineral fertilizer production, free of chlorides.
