Conclusion
A Pilot plant was operated at Veolia Water on a treatment plant in Annet sur Marne (France). Water source studied was the Marne River after coagulation-settling and granular activated carbon filtration. Backwashing and chemical enhanced backwashing with chlorine, caustic soda, citric acid were used to control the membrane fouling. As shown in Fig. 3, the membrane hydraulic performances were high and stable over 6 months of operation with a Veolia Water has set up a membrane expertise centre of excellence to select appropriate membranes according to needs. For drinking water treatment, Veolia Water has selected Hydraunautics membranes further to interesting results: • Tight membrane that is capable of remaining more than 5 (±1) log MS2 phages viruses. • High and long term stabilised hydraulic performance demonstrated by pilot testing on site over 6 months of operation.
