Moreover local informations on cake properties will be discussed in relation with global parameters like irreversible resistance and specific cake resistance versus the operating conditions. Comparison of global and local specific resistances calculated considering a uniform cake porosity and the local measured cake thickness This study shows the necessity to characterise fouling in situ during filtrations runs. This tool will allow to provide new informations on kinetics of cake build up in dead-end filtration in a confined channel as well as information on real backwash efficiency, measured in terms of remaining cake after a backwash. These results should permit to better understand fouling phenomena in dead-end filtration and to control the process.
