Conclusion

Thin-film composite membranes in contrast to asymmetric membranes allow using expensive or rare materials for the selective layer. The polymer of the selective layer can be crosslinked before or after deposition, different modifiers, including inorganic nanoparticles can be introduced into the polymer matrix allowing varying the gas separation and the mechanical properties. The main problem in the development of this type of membranes is the reduction of the effective thickness of the selective layer. Matrimid composite membranes were obtained by lamination of the diluted polymer solution on porous support.
