Abstract
This paper describes the construction and operation of shipboard desalination plants. This innovation provides a means of supplying s fresh water to almost every location on the Earth, especially to ports and towns on the shores of arid areas and deserts with hot and dry climatic conditions. The system can be installed on refitted ships or special purpose vessels. An upgraded system does not require on-board storage of desalinated water.
Conclusion
These systems (AquaTDP and S3DP) are cost effective, flexible, fast, easy to set up and to dismount if necessary. With the AquaTDP system the ship could at any time be converted back to its primary role, as is the case with the fresh water conveying aquatankers. These systems could be used worldwide without being limited by a shortage in port capacities for example. In particular, the S3DP would probably be ranked the best, most cost effective and interesting fresh water production systems of the future.
