High purification of substances by a gas separation method

Abstract

High purity gases and volatile substances are valuable raw materials in a wide range of electronic, pharmaceutical and petrochemical industry. Membrane technology appears to be promising for high purification, because membrane units are small, compact and operating with low energy consumption. They are industrially and ecologically safe.

Conclusion

Our investigation shows that the membrane gas separation is one of the most effective separation methods and we can find the application of this method in separation and purification technologies of hydrides. Also there might be applications for analysis, i.e. impurity concentration. Development progress of membrane technology is the progress in engineering of membrane system and polymer chemistry and technology. We should have more efficient polymeric membranes and more efficient membrane systems for separation compared to rectification and countercurrent crystallization.
