Categorized as a volatile organic compound (VOC) and listed on the US EPA list of hazardous air pollutants, styrene is considered highly reactive in the atmosphere and may contribute to smog formation and the production of secondary air pollutants. In addition, styrene odour is unpleasant and hazardous in high concentrations.
Responding to the growing styrene market Ecosorb 206 has been developped, also known as Styrosorb, as a styrene odour control product. Ecosorb 206 is an essential oil blend odour neutralizer specifically designed for styrene. Ecosorb 206 enhances the solubility of styrene so that airborne styrene molecules can be dissolved into atomized, diluted Ecosorb.
