Condition sensing control system for desalinator automation

An electronic system for automatically controlling the operation of a desalination system, and particularly such systems utilizing waste heat from internal combustion engines. The automatic control system is responsive to physical parameters within the desalinator and is particularly useful during warm-up and cooling periods at the beginning and end of use of such a desalination system for minimizing wear on system components and for maximizing the operational life of the system.

High efficiency water desalinator

A water desalinator includes a plurality of spaced tubes for establishing wet channels with fins extending between adjacent tubes for establishing a plurality of dry channels. A blower blows air through the dry channels, and air is bled from the dry airstreams to form wet airstreams flowing through the wet channels. A saline water tank is in fluid communication with the tubes to introduce saline water into the wet channels. Heat is extracted from the dry airstreams and transferred to the saline water, causing it to evaporate into the wet airstreams. By rejecting the heat out of the wet airstream in a condensation chamber, fresh water condenses out of the wet airstream and deposits into a water tank.

Desalinator

A desalinator is disclosed wherein the energy required for evaporation is provided primarily by the energy released during condensation in a counterflow heat exchanger consisting of an outer chamber and an inner tube or tubes. Sea water is evaporated into air at ambient pressure in the inner tube; this air-vapor mixture is then heated and reintroduced into the outer chamber where it heats the contents in the inner tube as it cools and its vapor condenses to distilled water.

Soil desalinator

The present invention is directed to an apparatus for desalinating soil. In accordance with the teachings there is disclosed an apparatus comprising a frame, a distribution pipe and an associated evaporating cloth. In one embodiment water is removed from the ground by way of a foot valve and a pump. The water is transported to the distribution pipe by a riser pipe. The distribution pipe transfers the water to the vertically orientated evaporating cloth upon which the water evaporates leaving crystalline salt that can then be collected and removed. The flow of water to the cloth may be regulated by a switch mechanism or valve mechanism that is triggered by the water levels on the evaporating cloth.
