Demisters

The efficiency of a demister depends on several factors

  • The efficiency versus size of the droplet is shown in the graph beneath, here can be seen; how the size has an effect on the efficiency.

  • The graph clearly indicates that a bigger droplet means increased removal efficiency. The graphic is drawn on logarithmic scale.

  • In this graphic (above), the air velocity is drawn versus the border size of the droplet. It can be seen that , depending on the type of demister, the droplets have a maximum speed whereby the droplet still can be caught. For each speed and size of the droplets there is a specific demister required. Obvious is that there are limits to the size and velocity of the droplets, it can not be to small and the speed can not be to low or to high. The minimum speed of the smaller droplets is higher; then the bigger ones.;

  • The pressure drop is shown in the graphic above (also in logarithmic scale). The pressure drop is created because of the speed of the droplet. It can be seen that the higher the velocity of the droplet the bigger the pressure drop
