Odour control and odor abatement are one of the key issues asphalt plant managers are concerned about. The asphalt industry has implemented several measures for reducing odour output. Examples are the placement of higher stacks, the implementation of fine dust filters, and the covering of asphalt stocking areas. Also the fine tuning of the temperatures of the asphalt and bitumen ovens has lead to an overal reduction in odor complaints. However, increasingly governments are demanding the recycling of asphalt returning from overhauled roads and highways. This recycle asphalt can be poluted with components that when reheated in the process ovens will become volatile and smelly. As the off-gas flows can be considerable in the asphalt production it is not easy to find a good technology and solution for this odor problem. The application of an Ecosorb system developed by Lenntech and optimalised for this application for different asphalt types has lead to an easy to apply flexible solution. For advice over odour or a quotation for a complete system, please feel free to contact one of Lenntech's specialists. |
