Gas purification techniques

Recuperative Catalytic post-combustion

The process exists from recuperative exchanger where the post-combustion part is catalytic.

Must be paid attention with polluting gases (greases, substance). These can pollute and clog the exchanger. Clogging will lead in the first place to output loss.
The advantages of recuperative catalytic post-combustion are:

  • More compact than thermal oxidation

  • Lower oxidation temperature so that less support fuel is necessary

  • Low NOx production; approximately 20 - 30% of the NOx at thermal afterburning

  • CO are destroyed with the other components

  • High constant and reliable performances possible

  • Due to the low temperature less heat insulation has been required than
    at thermal afterburning

  • Lower fire risk with respect to thermal oxidation

  • Lower fuel charges

The disadvantages are:

  • More lower output for fox disposal than thermal oxidation

  • System are sensitive for changes in energy-input of the gas

  • Risk of dioxin shaping connections chlorinated at presence of

  • all catalysts are liable to catalyst far grants and polluting
    substances.

  • Substance must be removed for post-combustion

  • Deactivated catalyst can be regenerated not but must be removed.

  • Can pollute exchanger at high substance qualities

This technique is mainly applied in:

  • graphic sector

  • Bakery production lines

  • Spray cabins
