Dry Electro filter

Fixed or liquid particles in gas flow are charged negative in an electric field cause by discharge electrodes. Under the influence of the electric field they are branched off afterwards from the gas flow. The separated particles can be captured with positive charged collecting electrodes or collectors. Removal of separated particles (fluid) takes place by the gravitation or, like at fixed dust, by periodically knocking or trembling the collecting electrodes, where amputation falls as slices or scraps of the collecting electrodes in a placed funnel, the so-called bunker. It is in theory possible to collect aerosols with dry electro filter on the collector magnet, at cleaning these, the funnel are not removed but remain in the air phase present because it will not sediment. For total dust disposal the efficiency is > 99 %. The disposal efficiency for a particle size ≤ 10 µm lie between 97 and 99% and for particles? 2.5 µm between 96 and 99 %.

The advantages of dry Electro filter are:

  • Very high capture output are reached, even above 99%

  • Very small particles can be well caught using electro filter. There is no theoretical limitations to the particle size

  • Generally dry dust can be broken away from, this offers the possibility for reuse of the broken away from dust

  • Electro filters are suitable for treating very large gas flows, whereas also high temperatures can be allowed

  • Application of special material can be made the electro filter
arranged for very corrosive gas flows

  • The output of electro filters is possible building of several fields
    or areas are later raised

  • Low pressure drops: 0.05 - 0.3 kPa

The disadvantages of dry Electro filter are:

  • Electro filters generally less suited for processes with variable company circumstances concerning the offered dust concentration. This objection can be caught partially by automatic tension regulation. Variable company circumstances is no problem, if the installation has been devised for the most serious situation

  • There less has suited for the disposal of dust with a very high or very low electric capacitance

  • Particles with in proportion to the mass has a large surface can be removed difficulty because these are taken away by the turbulent gas flows

  • The difficult to separate dust can produce a problem concerning the size of the gas flows and required the efficiency the spatial occupation

  • Sensitive for maintenance

  • Explosion danger at flammable dust (for example sooth)

The main application areas are power plants and waste combustion installations.
