Cloth filter

Cloth filter installation exist from a casing in which a filter medium (the cloth) has been introduced. By this cloth the casing of the filter are divided in a so-called "dirty "part and a "clean" part. The dirty part, where with substance load air comes in, is itself generally located to the base or on the center section of the casing . Incoming air does not flow generally directly to the filters, but it is interfered by one or several distribution plates. The aim of this is a better distribution concerning the cloths as a result of which these are burdened more evenly. Also air loses a large part of its kinetic energy, therefore a pre-separator takes place under the influence of the gravitation. Air polluted with substance is conducted by the cloth filter and is stripped of dust particles . The dust is removed periodically of the filter and is collected in a funnel placed under the filter installation (hopper).

The advantages of the cloth filter are:

  • High removal efficiency for rough and fine substance

  • Changing tax have no influence on the pressure drop and the efficiency

  • The captured substance can possibly be reused in the process
the remaining emission are independent of the entering concentration

  • Relatively simple in use

The disadvantages which belong be to the cloth filter:

  • No high humidity degree or droplets. Possibly additional heating of for example the casing can prevent that moist on the filter condenses. When this is not possible cloth filter can't be applied

  • Explosion danger. Sparks and soot must be avoided. Must sparks be extinguished before they reach the filter cloth. Soot can combust spontaneous

  • Possible electrostatic charge

  • Sticky substance must be avoided. Possible allowance substances can be administered

Cloth filters can be used at a lot of processes and application of the proper filter materials can be overcome much seemingly restrictions.
Cloth filters are applied in the following industries:

  • Chemical industry

  • Metallurgical industry

  • Cattle feeding industries

  • Feeding industry

  • Waste disposal industry
