 Sedimentation chamber

In which:
          v_h = horizontal flow speed (m/s);
          H, L = respective altitude and length of the sedimentation chamber (m);
          g = gravitation acceleration (m/s²);
          µ = viscosity of the gas (kg/m);
          Ip = volume mass of the substance particle (kg/m³).

All particles larger than dp are broken away from theoretically. Two different implementation forms have been confessed as it happens the counter-gravity flow separator and the
cross-gravity  flow separator.                                                                                   Counter-gravity flow separator: The flow direction of the degas, in the separator, is vertical. Under the influence of the gravitation the particles sedimentate to a certain relative speed contrary to the flow direction.                                                                                                                       Cross-gravity  flow separator: The flow direction of the degas, in the separator, is horizontal. Under the influence of the gravitation the particles sedimentate perpendicular on the flow direction.                                                                                                                              The advantages of sedimentation chamber as separator are:

• Rather arranged for the dissidence of large and medium particles (> 15
  µm)

• Simple construction

• No moving components

• Low investment costs

• Simple management

• Little maintenance

• Low pressure drop

• No energy usage

• Are able be carried out for applications at extreme situations, for example for high and low temperatures.

The disadvantages of these separator are:

• Low dissidence output

• Unsuitable for the dissidence of smaller particles

Because of its relatively small output and relatively high remaining emission
gravitational separator are generally used as pre-separator to remove
the largest substance tax for second dust removal installation like for
example dust scrubber or cloth filter.                                                                            Sedimentation chambers are mainly applied in the following industries:

• At several dust filtration system

• The wood - and furniture industry

• The construction sector

• Brickyards

• Glass industry

• The transport sector with storage and transshipment

• Ferro and non-ferro industry

• In series set techniques
