 Rotation scrubber

The rotation scrubber are a specific form of dust scrubbing. At rotation scrubbers the wash water with a fast spinning spray disk or rotating sprays is divided or scattered in small drops, therefore a large contact area between drops and gas arises. The gas is conducted tangential in the dust removal chamber. By centrifugal force and rotating atomizing dust particles are dragged to the wall of the scrubber, how a high separation efficiency is realizable. The separated dust must be drained and removed.

The similate alternatives are the "Dynamic scrubber" and the
"Nassventilator Kolonnenwäscher". At a "Dynamic scrubber" and "Nassventilator Kolonnenwäscher" the gas is brought below tangential the column as a result of which rough separation take place. In a second step is the gas is obliged to follow a certain path as a result of which it is put in contact with slurry down flowing which come from the next step. In a third step water is injected over the blades of an aerator as a result of which fine droplets arisen. These bind themselves to the fine dust and fall down against the wall what results in slurry which flows down.  Rotation scrubbers can remove particles to 0.1 µm, substance particles larger than 1-2 µm are broken away from almost entirely. 
The advantages of rotation scrubber are:

• No pollution or clogging of the wash section

• Wash water can become recycled without danger for clogging

• The scrubber has low pressure drop

• Can be used for sticky, explosive and flammable substance

• Very high output, also for sub micron particles

• Insensitively for fluctuating gas flows

• Self-cleaning
  

The disadvantages are: 

• The presence of moving parts in the wash section creates high maintenance
  costs 

• Relatively high energy usage

• Relatively high capital outlay

Rotation scrubbers are used when there is a very high dust removal efficiency, in particular for very small substance particles like at a waste combustion installations.

• The chemical industry for the dissidence of substance and aerosols

• The metallurgy for several types degasses

• waste combustion installations

• Gasification processes

• Potato industry for the disposal of starch

• Melting processes in the metallurgy
