Demister

Generally mist filters is built from woven elements of metal or synthetic monofilaments. It is depth filtration where the gas flow are conducted by a certain configuration of filter elements. Separation takes place against the filter material. At depth filtration the filter functioning has been divided concerning the whole depth of the filter until satiety appears. The filter must be cleaned then by means of rinsing. High-efficient filter elements must be rinsed on regular basis seen the high chance on clogging. At the capture of drops or aerosols the filter can be self-cleaning.
The advantages of demister are:

  • Self-cleaning at capture of fluids

  • Suited for filtration of aerosols

The disadvantages of the demister are:

  • Pollutes wash fluid at cleaning of the filter

  • High pressure drops at capture of solid dust particles

  • Chance on clogging

The demisters are generally placed after the boiler of the gas scrubber. They are used in the following industries:

  • Chemical industry

  • Textile industry

  • Plastic disposal
